Favorite Things...January 2011

My previous post was lengthy, introspective, reflective, and at times controversial. Religion. 'Nuff said.

On a lighter note, here are some images of some of my favorite things that bring me joy! Because the simple things just really DO IT for me!!!!

Photo by Jim Wall...also in my cottage in Norman. Favorite thing: arranging my own flowers (purchased at Wright's Grocery Store) in a vintage vase next to my glass chess set! Which I have yet to learn to play!! Now, my favorite flowers are from the shop downstairs in my building, called "Funky Petals." They are pricey, but I like that I can bring an empty vase and give them a price limit, then they arrange something beautiful within my means! Flowers are for sure a luxury I used to never buy for myself and now absolutely love having as often as possible!

GT's Synergy Organic and Raw Kombucha.

The first few sips are a little strange, but oddly enticing. I truly felt a difference in my body and my mind after drinking just one of these. Unfortunately, it has become my new addiction. Coffee in the mornings, Kombucha in the afternoons...usually 4x/week. I purchase at Sprouts and they run about $3 a bottle. I tried several brands that were cheaper, but this was definitely my favorite. I really like this flavor, "Trilogy," and another called "Guava Goddess."

Bath and Body Works' Lavender Vanilla "Sleep Pillow Mist". A couple of light mists over my pillow and between my sheets nightly. Makes getting into bed that much sweeter.

I went to Bath and Body Works' website for info on this mist, and it is out of stock! Bummer! Probably sold out because it's SO AWESOME. It was $10. 

Feeding Teddy the absolute best dog food possible.  Nutro Holistic Superfood....all the way. Totally worth the splurge, Ted.

So if I was a real hippy, I'd buy natural detergent AND fabric softener. Actually I guess I wouldn't wash my clothes. I digress. I spend a lot of time in my home, so I like things like the smell of my laundry, the scent of my living room, and the aroma of my pillows to make me feel comfortable. I love the light that my symbolic Dragonfly lamp radiates. I love having part of the OUTdoors come INside with fresh flowers. And with all the love Teddy pours into me, I feel good about investing in food that will sustain him for a long time. I like knowing my clothes are at least washed in non-irritating and environmentally friendly detergent. It makes me feel responsible, I guess? And seriously. Try Kombucha. There are no words! Little things contribute a great deal of bliss to my everyday life.
